The Windows 10 “Unidentified network error” comes 99% of the time from the fact that your internet gateway cannot be determined or found by Windows Your internet gateway is the equipment that connects your internal network to the internet. Mostly this will be your wifi router in a home environment or your router in a business environment. It may be that the DHCP server is not giving out addresses on the network correctly, the following steps can help resolve many issues.

  1. Try disabling and enabling the relevant network connection in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. Right click the wifi or LAN connection and select “disable” the connection icon will go grey. Right click it again and select enable. Test internet by searching for something on google.
  2. Try restarting your router and your computer.
  3. Test with a separate device to make sure the router is the issue and not your pc.
